In 1995, a psychology project at Mary Baldwin University gave birth to a powerful symbol of identity. The Bear Pride flag emerged from Craig Byrnes and Paul Witzkoske's collaborative effort. From a local project to a globally recognised symbol, the flag embodies the bear community's resilience. With seven stripes reflecting bear fur colours, it tells a remarkable narrative of community, visibility, and self-acceptance – celebrating diverse masculine identities that had long been marginalised.

We recognise this rhetoric from the 1980s, but today's attacks on LGBTQ+ protections feel unprecedented. I never thought I'd be reviewing a romance novel, but here I’m, completely smitten with Dylan Drakes' Cubs & Campfires. This charming story follows Luca Torres, a furry cub who takes a job as a fire lookout to honour an awkward vow of celibacy, only to meet Artair, a husky bear who makes keeping that vow increasingly difficult. Finally, a romance that celebrates thick, hairy men and gives us the gentle, steamy summer escape we deserve.
